Just when....

things are rolling along sort of smooth, there is a bump in the road!
This bump was a biggie and no way round it either!
My hard drive crashed, yes I have a lot of pc trouble, this comes from having pcs built by a loving DH out of scrap parts.
So now I am up and running sort of, with a 1 or 2 gig hard drive, with the Linux OS. (Suse 9 for those into such things.) I like it for the most part, it runs faster than any MS OS I have ever used. I like that it combines all the chat programs, though it has issues with yahoo at the moment. I like the background better, since I have not figured out how to put my own in there. I like that it asks me (repeatedly) if i want a site to cookie me.
I do not like that in the chat it can't seem to remember my settings (for example, LARGE type since I am near blind...) I am not really liking its media program either, I can't get my music to play as I tell it to. However, I am thankful that MJ was able to get me an internet usable machine, now to configure the printer to work since I have no disc storage...
In other news of the homestead, Thanksgiving was fun, awesome food and football! We were only 3, but we had fun anyhow! Drew enjoyed his day with his girlfriend's family, and says her grandfather is a blast.
The last week has seen me making gifts for various friends and family. I made MJ and I new stockings to hang, and I am having a blast sewing for folks I care about, each stitch brings me a grin.
Especially since some have no clue something is headed their way from the Prairie Homemaker! LOL I love surprising folks.
The new forum is working wonderfully, and growing by leaps and bounds! over 600 members in just 2 weeks! Now yes we had 900 before, but most of this 600 are new folks that were not members of the old forum!
Well my sewing machine is calling me, so I best get moving! I am having so much fun!
hugs y'all!

I wrote this on Monday...

Nov. 7, 2005
What a weekend!
MJ and I went Friday night and did groceries. Nothing major, I had hoped to find some cheap chocolate to stock up on but no one had any!
Then Saturday he went on to work (yeah OT! LOL) and I was working on the forums and POOF! Suddenly there is a large Turkish flag and some medieval sounding music going on. A sign appeared saying this site hacked by…
I had no clue why they chose my site, but a google of the hacker name showed at least a dozen boards hacked by the same name! From what I gather it is a game, a prank and is not directed at any certain board or person, just exploiting a weakness in the phpbb code.
So we are rebuilding, using different software. The forum is still intact, they didn’t do any real damage other than eating posts, and I got around them by deleting one of the rooms and changing some code back to its previous state. All the posts up to Saturday are gone though, other than the stickied ones, and a few old polls!
Now here is what ticks me off is when I called our host site, the tech informed me they had quit offering the phpbb because of this problem months ago… and that he could not form his perch at the site pc fix it… yet I was able to tinker around with it and fix it myself…
My biggest pet peeve though was since they knew about this problem, why could they not be bothered to send me an email and let ME know so I could change things before I got hacked?

The rebuilding is taking time, but I must say I am overjoyed with the reaction! No one has allowed this to deteriorate their attitudes! All the ladies and gents have been supportive, and thankful that we did not sustain any real damage. Yes a large bit of information was lost, but the first PH board is still up and the majority of recipes and mixes are still there! I am in the process of redoing them and moving them to the new site so when we open it, there will already be a home coming feel to it!
MJ and I did get to go for a nice ride Saturday afternoon though, we too Drew to visit with Em’s family! We didn’t get to stay and visit, being I had a lot of home keeping to do and site rebuilding waiting for me!
Well now its back to the rebuilding and home keeping! Chris is going to mow for us this week, so I get to take some outside breaks too!
Hugs Y’all

Typical days

My days are not as busy as a mom with young children to care for. Usually I get up at 530 and fix a bite for MJ and Drew before they head off for town. I usually go back to bed after, since I do not go to sleep until midnight or 1, and 4-5 hours sleep just leaves me weary and easily irritated!
When I get up for real, I do my bible study and prayer, take care of the cats, make coffee for Chris and I, and figure out what to do with my day.
Usually it goes like this.
Pc time, listen to my music (Got a fantastic downloaded cd from
http://www.ucalldatmusic.com/index.html )
Work on the web site, signing up the over night members, weeding out the spammers and checking posts.
Go work in the kitchen for 15 – 30 minutes.
More pc time, turn on chats if I am up to it, some days I just want to be quiet! (yes me the loud mouth likes to be quiet!)
Work on laundry
Then each day has a job, today its just laundry, but other days have things like sweep the kitchen, dining room or scrub the bathroom.
I wipe the bathroom down everyday.
I clean out my fridge each week, usually on Thursday, it saves me from having science projects in there later!
Then I try to do some crafting, sewing is it this week, I am almost done with all the aprons I have due out! Only 1 more to go!
I do use a lot of time on the Pc updating the message board, keeping tabs on things that are being said and done. Writing is done here too… speaking of which I have some I need to do besides this!
I try to do any site maintenance on the weekends, that way if I mess it up, MJ can fix it!
I need to do some site work this weekend, adding a new page to it!
I usually begin supper prep in the morning, especially if I have bread to make or am using the crock pot! I have finally learned the secret to soft sandwich usable bread, I add 2 eggs midway through the mixing process! Before the kneading but after mi the hot milk in the yeast flour mix.
Well I am going to go work on my kitchen now, I have a major headache so I am moving slowly now! Plus my Pc is going on and off line on its own, very weird so I am gonna run my scans and see what I find out!
Hugs y’all!
